Rating Faces calculates the degree to which the facial proportion ratios of any face approach the ratios of people who are commonly regarded as reflecting classical beauty. HAPPY NEW YEAR SURPRISE: Rating Faces is free until January 12. Rating Faces is simple to use. Sample pictures are included to illustrate how best to take a picture so that the data results it yields will be accurate. 1. Import a picture of a face whose proportions you want to evaluate. 2. Click at the exact center tip of the nose to divide the facial graphic into quadrants. 3. Then just click your mouse at the locations indicated by the Rating Faces automated guide. The format of the app is intended to calculate extremely accurate facial proportions, not merely to use a grid to scan the general contours of your face. Data is then automatcally calculated and saved for the proportions of each face that is measured, reflecting the ratios between the 4 most illuminating and accurate triangles of facial measurements: the chin triangle, the mouth triangle, the inner eye triangle, and the outer eye triangle, along with 6 separate linear dimensions (LT). The data for each face that is evaluated is compared to a standard of attractive appearance as embodied by well known men and women of many different ethnic backgrounds whose appearance has been admired throughout history. Rating Faces also offers an accurate means by which to compare facial proportions between family members, friends, and folks with different ethnic backgrounds. Just set the triangle proportion lines of one person's face and then click the thumbnail pictures to overlay those lines on other faces for comparison. Of course, any attempt to use a mathematical evaluation of facial structure as a means of determining beauty is at best just an amusement controlled by entirely random and woeful illusions. Nevertheless, Rating Faces is fun to use and will collect data about the proportions of faces, and measure that data against well known faces about which there is common agreement as to beauty or lack thereof. The following ratios between facial triangles are calculated: 1. Chin to outer eye (CO) 2. Mouth to inner eye (MI) 3. Inner eye to chin (IC) 4. Outer eye to mouth (OM) 5. Chin to mouth (CM) 6. Outer eye to inner eye (OI) The formula used to determine the extent to which the proportions of an adolescent or adult face approximate the proportions of faces commonly regarded as having classical beauty is: cb = (((cor/oer/mer/cmr/ecr/omr)*(500)) + 30) +/- LT CAUTION: The ratings produced by Rating Faces may not be used to solicit dates. NOTE: Make a Face ®, available here at the Mac App Store, includes some of the features of Rating Faces 1.2. Rating Faces is produced by the makers of Make a Face®, which is available on the Mac OSX App Store as well as an iOS version available on iTunes.
